Uitvlugt Resort

Uitvlugt is a spacious lifestyle resort nestled on the banks of the Elands river, bordering the popular tourist destination of DinokengBig-5 Game Reserve.

With an easy drive of 66km (less than an hour) from Pretoria, you will find yourself relaxing in the company of family and friends at your chalet or leisure campsite to enjoy your perfect bush holiday.

We also cater for schools, students, youth camps, family reunions, private functions or weddings.

CHALETS

  • Accommodation at Uitvlugt Resort comprises of seven self-catering (2 to 6-sleeper) rustic stone chalets, designed to provide total tranquility and privacy.

  • These units are fully equipped, linen and towels provided.

  • Guests need to bring only swimming towels for use at the swimming pool.

Group Accommodation

  • Our Group accommodation comprises of dormitories with either single beds or bunk beds, where you will have to provide your own linen and towels.

  • This camp is ideal for medium to much larger groups (20 – 180 beds)
  • There are various open plan rooms/ units to choose from:
  • The Farm House sleeps 40 pax– open plan with bunk beds, electricity.

  • Room 1: for 40 pax – open plan with bunk beds, electricity.

  • Room 2: also for another 40 pax – open plan with bunk beds, electricity.

  • There are modern, neat ablutions (separate gents and ladies) to wash off all the dirt after a fun filled day, hot water showers.

  • Beds and mattresses provided, bring own linen/ sleeping bags and pillows

  • Cutlery and crockery NOT provided, but available to hire on prior arrangements at least 2 weeks in advance.

  • A fully equipped Kitchen and big hall are also for hire at extra cost.

Camp Sites:

  • Leisure campsites comprises of 24 stands equipped with power and water points and barbeque (some with private ablution, kitchen, and barbeque) and four bush camp sites along the Elands river for the true nature lover, a bird lover’s paradise.

  • There are 10 campsites each with their very own barbeque, water and electricity point.

  • These campsites are near the shared ablution blocks – ladies and gents separate – with hot water showers, hand basins and flushing toilets.

  • A shared kitchenette is situated on the outside of the ablution building for easier washup of dishes etc.

  • Our 8 private stands are equipped with your own bathroom with a hot water shower, hand basin and flush toilet. Also, with your very own kitchenette.

  • For those who like to ruff it a bit more, there are 4 “boswa” stands next to the river but there are no other facilities, you need to be self-provided and fully geared.

  • Hiking, cycling, jogging and birding along the Elands river (be aware of the resident hippos, crocodiles and several plains game).

  • Bush barbeque and bush picnics (must be booked in advance)

  • Meals for groups can be arranged – rates on request available.

Extra Ordinary Bird Life For Bird Watchers:

  • A remarkable 418 bird species are found at Uitvlugt Resort which forms part of the popular Rust de Winter Dam and Nature Reserve and the bigger Dinokeng Area, which is a veritable birder’s paradise.

  • The region’s prolific birdlife is explained by its incredible array of unique habitats, ranging from acacia savanna, dry woodland to the lush riverine forests along the Elands river and Rust de Winter dam. Although the area is one of the best year-round birding sites in South Africa, visiting migrants increases the resident bird population by up to 20%. Diversity is key here, with sightings ranging from kingfishers to waders to raptors.

  • Large storks are frequently seen, including the Marabou, the Saddle-Billed Stork and the Abdim’s Stork, while the riverbanks provide nesting space for colonies of iridescent Bee-Eaters and Kingfishers. Rarities include the African Finfoot, Red-Chested Fluff tail and the African Crake.
