GAME FARM & HIKING TRAIL

Schoongezicht Hiking Trail is situated on a 2000 ha game farm 25 km from Swartruggens, past Rustenburg,  in the North  West Province – only 2 hours drive from PTA / JHB.

(Bonus:  NO gravel road)

This farm has been in the Visser family for more than 3 generations already. They are proud on their achievements over the years winning many awards for cattle and game on their farm.

They also are contributing towards the local communities and farm schools in their area.

Visitors will also enjoy the owner’s art: pottery, painting and many statues in their huge garden.

ACCOMMODATION

  • In total it accommodates 20 hikers.
  • There are 4 bedrooms in the house. Bedding provided.
  • A big dining area.
  • Fully equipped kitchen: all cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils provided. Fridge & Stove. Electricity.
  • One bathroom inside house. Extra neat ablution block outside with additional showers and toilets.
  • The rondavel also has an en suit bath room.
  • Outside is a nice boma area with braai facilities.
  • There is a huge clean cement dam for swimming in the camp in hot summer months and a big farm dam with deck walking distance away for the keen fisherman.
  • Bring ONLY OWN towels!!

THE TRAILS

  • There are 3x circular trails to choose from:

  • Well marked and easy to follow = 13km and 6,3km and bird watching trail of 2,5km to the river and back.

  • The trails meander through indigenous bush, ravines with mountain streams in rainy season, hills and crisscross the Elands river.

  • Lots of game to be seen on the trails such as kudu, blesbok, zebra, rooi hartebeest, impala etc.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • Mountain Biking – 40-80 km dirt road – bring own bikes.
  • Fishing at a big stocked dam – bass, barber, karp, kurper.
  • Game Viewing – own vehicle/ self drive or guided.
  • Swimming in farm dams – bring tubes or canoes.
  • Excellent bird watching
  • Enjoy perfect Star gazing
  • 50 km from Sun City & Pilansberg

  • 40 km from Groot Marico

R250.00 per adult per night and R180.00 p child u/12 p.n.

One night on weekends:

R380.00 p. adult and R220.00 p child u/12
